Avast Service Review

Avast is a massive popular antivirus product with a mighty malware detection engine as well as lots of extra features including ransomware cover and a web fire wall and VPN assistance. The malware detection rate of 6 out of 6 in our tests was very good and it did an excellent job of blocking access to websites that slipped through Chrome’s and Firefox default security.

Avast’s tests in real-world conditions showed that it could scan more than two million files with one full scan. This is a feat, considering how light and efficient the program is. In our speed tests, Avast didn’t impact system performance in any noticeable way and it performed better than most competitors which can take up to an hour to trawl through the exact file count.

The interface of Avast is simple, easy to navigate and clean. The majority of its tools are centralized on one display with clear tiles that represent each feature which make it easy to locate the features you require without having to go through a long menu or a variety of apps. This is an improvement over McAfee’s suite that includes all its features scattered across different applications.

Avast provides a superior level of customer service. It offers 24 hour support via email or by phone. Avast also has a knowledge base and forums to assist you with the most basic issues. You can also avail the ticketing system to get assistance for more complex issues. However, its practices for sharing data are a source of concern, and it doesn’t include a password manager or parental control to match competitors like Bitdefender’s Total Security.
